The 2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance AWD was a sedan produced from 2018 to 2023. It features a dual motor (permanent magnet + ac induction) AWD powertrain. EPA-rated range is 310 miles with 113 MPGe. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Top speed is 162 mph. Manufactured at Fremont, CA / Shanghai.
Tesla took the dual-motor Long Range platform and turned everything up. The Performance Model 3 added larger brakes, lower suspension, a higher top speed, and Track Mode, which let drivers adjust stability control, regenerative braking, and power distribution between the front and rear motors on a track-by-track basis.
It showed up at drag strips and embarrassed cars costing three times as much. The sub-3.2-second 0-60 time put it in supercar territory, but you could drive it to work on Monday with a trunk full of groceries. The optional Performance Upgrade Package added 20-inch wheels, carbon fiber spoiler, and aluminum pedals. This was Tesla proving electric sedans could be genuine driver's cars.
