The 2019 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range RWD was a sedan produced from 2019 to 2019. It features a single motor (permanent magnet) RWD powertrain. EPA-rated range is 220 miles with 130 MPGe. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. Top speed is 130 mph. Manufactured at Fremont, CA.
The car Tesla bet the company on. Elon Musk unveiled the Model 3 in March 2016 to nearly 400,000 reservations within weeks, each backed by a $1,000 deposit. The $35,000 starting price was the whole point: make an electric car normal people could actually buy.
The Standard Range trim with its 50 kWh battery didn't actually ship until early 2019, well after the Long Range version. Tesla struggled to hit that price target while staying solvent, and the base SR was only briefly available for order before being pulled from the online configurator. You had to call or visit a store to get one. It remains one of the most significant cars of the 21st century, electric or otherwise.
