The 2015 Tesla Model S 70 was a sedan produced from 2015 to 2016. It features a single motor (ac induction) RWD powertrain. EPA-rated range is 230 miles. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds. Top speed is 140 mph. Manufactured at Fremont, CA.
When the 70D arrived in April 2015, Tesla also kept a rear-wheel-drive 70 in the lineup as the true base car. Same 70 kWh pack, one motor instead of two, 230 miles of EPA range, and a few thousand dollars saved over the dual-motor version.
It sold quietly until mid-2016, when the 75 kWh pack replaced the 70 across the range. Single-motor Model S variants disappeared entirely a year later, making the 70 and 75 the last RWD flagship Teslas until the Cybertruck RWD revived the idea.
