The Model S 60 was the entry point to Tesla's first real production sedan, the car that proved EVs could be practical and desirable. Deliveries began in June 2012 from the old NUMMI plant in Fremont, California. Its 17-inch center touchscreen was unlike anything else on the road, and the all-aluminum body helped keep weight in check despite the battery pack. The 60 kWh pack made it the more affordable option alongside the 85, though Tesla discontinued it in 2015.

For many early adopters, this was their first EV. It wasn't the fastest or longest-range Model S, but it was the one that got people through the door.
