The 2025 Tesla Model X Plaid was an SUV produced from 2025 to 2026. It features a tri motor (permanent magnet, carbon-sleeved rotors) AWD powertrain. EPA-rated range is 335 miles with 100 MPGe. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds. Top speed is 163 mph. Manufactured at Fremont, CA.
The 2025 Plaid X carries forward the tri-motor powertrain with the same exterior and interior updates as the AWD variant. It keeps its position as the quickest production SUV available, a title Tesla has held essentially unchallenged since the P100D days. The round steering wheel returned here too, which most owners consider a welcome change for a vehicle that regularly does school pickups.
Tesla refined the Plaid drivetrain calibration for 2025, with smoother power delivery at partial throttle and improved regenerative braking tuning. The HW4 sensor suite came standard. After nearly a decade, the Model X Plaid remains Tesla's most excessive vehicle: a six-seat, falcon-winged SUV that can outrun almost anything at a stoplight.
