The 2017 Tesla Model X 75D was an SUV produced from 2016 to 2019. It features a dual motor (ac induction) AWD powertrain. EPA-rated range is 238 miles with 93 MPGe. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds. Top speed is 130 mph. Manufactured at Fremont, CA.
Tesla introduced the 75D as the entry point into Model X ownership for 2017, slotting a smaller 75 kWh battery pack into the same aluminum body. It made the falcon wing door experience accessible at a lower price, though "lower" is relative when you're still north of $80,000.
The 75D was the pragmatist's pick. Most owners weren't drag racing; they wanted the space, the AWD capability, and the autopilot hardware that came standard on all 2017 builds (HW2 with enhanced Autopilot). Range was the trade-off, but for daily driving and shorter trips, it delivered the full Model X experience without the battery cost premium.
