The shortest-lived Model Y. Tesla quietly added a Standard Range RWD trim in January 2021 at $41,990, with a 244-mile EPA rating. Weeks later Elon Musk said the range was "unacceptably low" for the Y and pulled it from the online configurator, leaving it briefly available off-menu before it disappeared entirely.
Few were delivered, which makes it a footnote in the lineup but a real one: it remains the only rear-wheel-drive Model Y sold in the US before the Long Range RWD arrived in late 2023.
